Introducing the faces that make up the Dirt Works team. From advice on what bike, component or item of clothing best fits your needs or putting fresh builds together to being on the spanners keeping your bikes out on the trails or even just making a brew. Every member of our team knows and loves their bikes so no matter who you speak to rest assured they know their stuff and will be giving you the best advice and service.
Matt started in the world of cycling in 2003, after years of climbing and mountaineering, he discovered how much fun could be had on bikes and that was pretty much it from there in. He got his first job in the industry at 15 and has only worked outside of it for a year since then. He has swept floors, cleaned his share of bikes, coached and managed shops and workshops.
Matt has had a fun/recreational dip into Enduro, Downhill and 4x riding. With a good group of friends he found it fun though results were distinctly average! However now he loves exploring new terrain and discovering newly scratched in trails within the local area and into South Wales. He can easily have his arm twisted into a good few uplift days where Matt tries his hardest to keep up with his mates and pretend he’s not terrified of the bigger features. Regularly he can be seen with Robyn, Scout & Buster on the local gold around the shop. He never needs much of an excuse for a coffee or ice cream stop.
He started Dirt Works with a desire to have a core bike shop with high end servicing and customer service at the heart of it. He just wanted to create the kind of bike shop he’d want to walk into. He stays strong to this ethos today, only stocking selected items from brands he trusts.
If not out on his bike he’ll be fiddling with the car and van or dreaming of powder turns on his snowboard.

Robyn loves nothing more than cruising around Malvern on her bike and listening to sassy tunes. If you want to know how a track in Malvern is running, ask Robyn. After a brutal double spine break on the hills in 2014, she wasn’t sure whether she would want to ride again, but 6 months later she was back hitting jumps in Whistler. You’d only know she had done it if you saw her stegosaurus spine.
When Matt decided he wanted to open Dirt Works in 2018, Robyn wanted to make it her mission to ensure that women always felt welcome. Being a female in the sport can be intimidating, pressure-filled and down right scary. Robyn is constantly striving to make women feel included and empowered, by organising women’s rides and events, as well as making sure that the shop is always stocked with cute womenswear.
Robyn can usually be found chilling at the shop, advising on which bikes are the most fun and on the best clothing and helmets for the season (she has an unnatural knack for guessing your head size). But whatever you do, don’t let her perform mechanics on your bike.
